I have known Shay Baker a very long time. We were both undergrads at Dear Langston University and the very first time we met we just clicked. Shay was actually dating my childhood friend Javon and summer 2006 Shay left Kansas City for Langston University to enroll. Me and Shay quickly became great friend, and affectionately called each other "my other half." Shay was there for every bad fashion choice, failed relationship, but most of all she has been there from the very beginning of BC Photography & Design. From the moment I picked up a camera to the first time I tried Photoshop Shay has been a constant encouragement. You can see the first stages of my logo below. It was a good try. I knew what i wanted but had not yet developed the skills to create it, but that didn't matter Shay loved it all. You can also see some early design work with Shay as the inspiration.
Shay and Javon eventually gave me the beautiful, smart, and loving Jaden and of all people asked me to take on the role of God Father. I proudly accepted and much like me and Shay, when Jaden is around we are inseparable. She is incredibly intelligent, and loves to all things Paw Patrol. I will never forget the time I was sent on a hunt for the Paw Patrol dogs. Shay told me they were very popular and sold out every where. Much to my surprise when I walked in the ToyRUs ready to be disappointed God had set one aside just for Jaden. I was prepared to search high and low. Thats just how much she means to me.
I was there for so many important moments for the Hiblers that when they became engaged I was over the moon excited to witness that day. Never would I have imagined they wanted me to be their photographer. I have shot many weddings and captured some very special moments for people who trust me with a very important day, but something different happens when your best friend tells you there is no other person they trust with this moment in their life.
Shooting the Hibler wedding brought my heart absolute joy, not only as a photographer but this served as another opportunity to show up for a great friend who has always shown up in my life.
